This
authoritative guide has been
produced by the Fell and Rock
Climbing Club - Lake District's
premier mountaineering club.
It provides comprehensive descriptions
for ascending all 244 fells
in the Lake District National
Park over 300 metres (approx
1000 feet). Each entry is accompanied
by a photograph and sketch map
on the same page.
The
139 circular routes are of varying
length to suit walkers of all
abilities. The route descriptions
have been written by a team
of experienced walkers who have
used their knowledge of local
history, wildlife, geology and
literature to make each route
full of interest. There are
suggestions for longer walks
by combining two or more of
the entries.
Cross-referencing
to Wainwright's guides is easy.
In addition, this book offers
essential background information
on mountain safety and rescue,
weather, conservation, travel,
accommodation and even suggestions
for wet weather alternatives.
Other sections provide information
on rock climbing, mountain biking,
fell running and skiing in the
Lakes. Two indexes allow you
to find any mountain easily
and to discover which fells
can be reached from wherever
you are staying. |
