Tom
Price has been active in the
outdoors throughout a long life:
climbing, mountaineering, canoeing,
camping, skiing, Antarctic exploration,
and travelling in many lands
have all been and remain great
enthusiasms.
Also
throughout his life he has written
evocatively and entertainingly
about his experiences - early
outings in the Lakes, surveying
in South Georgia, climbing in
the Alps, leading young and
old parties in the wilds of
Lesotho, a classic canoeing
trip of 500 miles through the
North West Territories, mountain
rescue in the Lakes.
The
author was involved in outdoor
education for many years and
his radical views upon the need
for a simple approach and for
an emphasis on having fun are
clearly argued. Last he writes
sympathetic and illuminating
portraits of friends made during
his life in the mountains.
